Morning Classes

 1. Robotics and Engineering : First and second week of camp

This class encourages students to not only apply mathematical and scientific concepts but also use their creativity to develop their own design. Both class and competitions are taught in a group setting that enforces students’ problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Thus, participating students learn about robotics and the importance of group work.

Program teaches basic engineering concepts and students take part in the Egg drop Competition, design and build own robots with the Lego Mindstorms Kit, and compete in the final Team Competition.

  • Class length: 2 weeks, 3 hours per day
  • Class time: 09:00am – 12:10pm
  • Class levels: Advanced class:  6th – 8th grades / Intermediate class:  4th – 5th grades
  • Pre-requisites: Fluent English. Ability to work well in teams.

2. Seminar Courses: On the third week of camp

Seminar courses that take place on the third week of camp include introductions to various topics in math and science and are designed to deepen students’ interest and appreciation. Students do research on the additional topics on their own initiative and have opportunities to present their work. Math Intensive Class for older students provides lessons on AMC 8 preparation with practice problems and analyzing various problem solving methods.

  • Class length: 1 week, 3 hours per day
  • Class time: 09:00am – 12:10pm
  • Class Levels: Math Intensive class: 6th – 8th grades / Diverse Science & Math Class: 4th – 5th grades
  • Pre-requisites: Fluent English. Curiosity or interest in seminar subject matter.

A. Math Intensive Class
An advanced math course for students in 6th – 8th grades, this course allows students to work on high level math problems that are not usually taught in school. It provides AMC 8 practice questions and teaches problem solving strategies and students have the opportunity to take an actual practice test in groups.

B. Diverse Science & Math Class
This course combines science and mathematics for students in 4th – 5th grades. Class focuses on changes in the environment, ecosystem conservation and new disease outbreaks. Fun Math class is offered during the first half of the three-hour morning session and is designed to increase students’ interest and confidence in math.

  1. Green Energy and Environmental Issues:
    Are you interested in global warming? This course introduces various topics on green energy and environment protection. It also features discussions on social values of environment protection.
  2. Biological Diversity and Ecology:
    Various biological organisms live on Earth. This course examines such diverse Biomes and organisms.
  3. The Immune System and Human Diseases:
    This course teaches the basics of immunology. Human immune system’s resistance to disease carriers is discussed.
  4. Fun Math:
    Fun Math class is offered during the first half of the three-hour morning session. It introduces and relates various mathematical concepts in daily life contexts. Students solve fun puzzles and experience the exciting world of mathematics.

Afternoon Classes

1. English Reading & Debating class: 3weeks program

Every day of the three-week program, two hours are dedicated to English Reading and Debating in the afternoon. The object of the course is to reinforce students’ English skills and also improve reasoning, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Students share their perspectives and debate on international issues in various areas such as politics, economics, history, science and sports. Topics may include: global poverty, genetically modified foods, human diseases, and nuclear power.
All classes are in a group setting and group debate competitions take place every weekend.

  • Class length: 3 week, 2 hours per day
  • Class time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm
  • Class Levels: Advanced class: 6th – 8th grades / Intermediate class: 4th – 5th grades
  • Pre-requisites: Fluent English. Curiosity or interest in seminar subject matter

2.  Daily Sports

Sports program take places every day from 4 -5 p.m. It comprises of sports oriented games such as soccer, basketball, dodge ball, swimming, and tennis that all participating students can play in groups.  As a break from the regularly scheduled core classes, it will help relieve stress and develop friendship among students.

Weekend Program

In the three-week program, weekends are dedicated to “Contest & Presentation relay” on Saturdays and “Boston Tour & Recreational activities” on Sundays. A tour of New York City takes place on the last Saturday of the program.
